One of the movies I've been anticipating since two years or so ago is the Thor movie. I grew up reading a lot of comic books and the Avengers was one of them. Thor was one of the Avengers and one of my favorites. When I first read about the movie, I was excited to learn that there were going to be some action in Asgard, the realm of Norse gods ruled by Odin, Thor's father.

Thor's arch-nemesis in the comic books was also going to be his antagonist in the movie. And that would be the trickster, Loki, Odin's adopted son and Thor's spiteful and jealous brother.
The problem I have with the movie is it's blandness. Nothing overtly bad. But at the same time, nothing great. I suppose another way to put it is that none of the characters connected with me the way, let's say, Robert Downey Jr. did as Iron Man. Or perhaps the way Tobey Maguire portrayed a lovelorn teen as Peter Parker in Spider-Man.
The Avengers movie is coming up next year, summer of 2012. By that time, the major superheroes, or the most popular superheroes from the group, would've had their films released and the movie-going crowd would already know who's who. There will be no more need to introduce the characters and they could dive right into the story. I'm crossing my fingers for a good show.
